Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The first amendment to the United States Constitution is one of the most important set of freedoms Americans have. Suppressing a nation's right to practice the faith of their choice, causes many problems within that society. Freedom of speech gives us an opportunity to bring our perspective on a matter to light, without being punished for statements that the Government may not be in accordance with. It also opens the door for citizens to bring issues to the Government.

Here is an illustration of citizens of the United States, capable of practicing their faith without interference of the government.

Bill Maher proves that Americans are protected by the first amendment in their freedom of speech.
